How To Make Almond Milk At Home
Making homemade almond milk is my newest obsession! Almond milk has always been my non-dairy milk alternative of choice. I love drinks like bubble tea, coffee, matcha lattes, etc. but as someone who is lactose intolerant, I almost always ask for almond milk substitute in my drinks.
I recently tried out making almond milk at home and was shocked at how easy it was! Without further ado, here is how I made almond milk at home.
Ingredients:
- Almonds
- Water
- Vanilla (optional)
- Sugar (optional)
You’ll Need:
- Blender
- Cheesecloth (can be substituted with some fabrics)
- Pots
How To Make Almond Milk At Home:
- Soak almonds overnight
- Throw out almonds that are floating
- Drain the almonds and throw away the water
- Rinse almonds until water is clear
- Put milk and almonds into the blender
- Blend until visibly smooth
- Put cheesecloth over the pot — I used a (washed) cloth bag that I already had. A bandana should also work.
- Pour nut water pot through cheesecloth
- Squeeze all of the liquid out of cheesecloth
- Bring to a boil
- Add sugar or vanilla to taste (for sweet vanilla almond milk) — I prefer unsweetened
- Enjoy!

Homemade almond milk tends to separate more than store-bought ones (remember, it’s essentially just really small pieces of almond and water!). This almond milk should last about four days, but in general, it’s good until the color changes or if it tastes off.
I loved making homemade almond milk! Making almond milk made me realize that it’s just almonds and water, just like most nut milks. It’s super easy to make and easy to make in bulk. I had enough almond milk for my entire family of four to drink in our coffees and for a drink throughout the day for two days.
I will be making my own almond milk from now on for sure because I love making lattes and other drinks with milk at home. Being able to make almond milk at home was a game-changer for me because I am the only person in my family who is lactose intolerant and so we typically only have cow’s milk at home.
I hope you all try it out and love it too!
