About six months ago, I started my first big girl job and moved to New York City. Since the big move, I’ve noticed how much the day-to-day decisions I make daily impact how I feel.
Our resources are limited. The concept of limited resources is one that we commonly discuss in the context of academia and business. But it also applies to our daily lives.
What resources do we need to function?
In economics, the primary forms of resources are human, natural, and capital. This can roughly translate to the resources that we use in our daily lives.
For today’s discussion, the buckets of resources I want to focus on are:
- Time
- Money
- Energy (mental + physical)
Intentionally allocating my resources has helped me to avoid burnout so far — let me share how I’ve been doing it.
My two (2!!) step guide to avoiding burnout
1. Getting to know myself.
It’s stupid how easy it is these days for us to passively watch our lives pass by in the passenger seat. But why aren’t we driving the hypothetical car that is our own life?
