an addendum to my most recent post

Throughout the last few weeks, I’ve felt a sense of lingering dissatisfaction and numbness. I haven’t felt as energized to make plans and do the things that I usually enjoy very much. One of the hobbies I’ve neglected most is writing. Scroll through my Medium profile, and you’ll see the gradual decline in my writing frequency over the last few months.

When I finally logged back into Medium, I immediately saw my last post pridefully titled how I’m avoiding burnout staring back at me. In this post, I eagerly summarized a few frameworks that I swore by to balance my day-to-day and avoid depleting my battery.

Hilariously, I, present-day Ashley, am feeling quite burnt out! Oh the irony…

The past me who wrote the guide to avoiding burnout was naive. Re-reading my last post, I feel compelled to add some related learnings and taper my stance. They say that life becomes less black and white with age, and I’m finding that to be true.

Here is what I would like to append to my previous post, now that two months older and mostly none the wiser.

External factors make our lives so very complex, hard, and beautifully human. These factors are also bound to drain us.
